It's Time To Augment Your Reality

It's January, it's here and it's yours for free.

(and the file sharing glitch is fixed…)

The back cover blurbage:

Enhance your games of the dark future, with the easy to use Augmented Reality cyberpunk city kit. Inside, you’ll find over 50 tables designed to assist gamesmasters who need to improvise futuristic city details, or who have found that they are unprepared for where their players are heading.

With this book, you can add layers of detail to any cyberpunk cityscape, and make use of over 250 NPCs, including fixers, street samurai, corporate players and insane hackers, along with easy to roll cabbies, cops, gang members and street fighters. Missions, motivations and methods can be generated, along with the immediate urban environment, all painted with a broad brush, to enable gamesmasters to let their twisted imaginations shine through, without slowing down the action.

Your players may use the real world as a reference, but YOU can use these tables to bring them the bleeding-edge future. So, jack in now and augment your reality…

  1. Fantastic idea, great value. Thank you very much!
My 2 cents: add "numbers" in the page with the city/character grid. Let's say I don't want to throw the dice on the printed page. If I had numbers from 1 to 10 on the "rows" and numbers inside the "squares", I could random generate them with no printed pages.
I know, I need a couple of rolls to generate the building, and then another (optional) roll to get floors/features. However I'd love it.

    1. Explained better (I was on mobile): take the Downtown Drop Down Grid. I roll a d10, getting a "6", so sixth row. There, I see 6 "squares" of different sizes. Let's say that those squares have those numbers inside: Vehicle Showroom (1-2), Fashion Boutique (3-4), Commercial Cybernetics (5-7), Mall (8), VRcade (9), Gym (10).
      So, if I roll another d10, and I get a 10, I obtain a Gym.

This system retains the different weights of each "building", so it's rarer to get a Bank, in comparison to an Office Block.

    2. I see where you're coming from. I may do that on each version of the drop grids, as downloads from the blog. Watch this space. ;)

    3. Alternative to that: grid coordinates in the margins.

  2. You should put this up on DriveThruRPG.com as "pay what you want". I foresee a lot of beer money in your future...

    1. Beer tokens! That's a good idea! Also considering a hardcopy option at the moment. More details on the blog when I have 'em.

    2. Hopefully there's a reasonable way to make a physical copy - It's a bit hefty for a saddle, and smyth sewn is expensive to make. Anything else isn't really die-droppable. :(

Also yes for PWYW. I feel like I should get you a pint.

    3. I'm just glad people are liking it. Sent off for a proof copy from Lulu to see if it works. I'll announce availability and provide a link when I'm happy with it.

  7. Great cover art and excellent production. This looks really well made and useful. And it's getting me thinking about old c'punk stuff I did long, long ago.

I agree with the others who are encouraging you to put this on DriveThru or someplace like that. I'm going to hold off on widely sharing this until you do, because I'd rather drive some paying traffic to you.

    2. Your G+ appears not to allow replies or comments; I tried to respond to your question about supplements there, but it's not enabled for some reason (or by your choice).

I went digging in my archives and found the text for an old adventure I put together 20ish years ago that I'm going to try to polish up and put out there soon.

    3. Sorry Rodger, my bad. Still figuring G+ out - badly! If you follow me on G+, you might see it? Or try here?

    4. I'm now following your Starry Messenger blog and would be interested in seeing your repolished adventure. ;) Or if all else fails, post your supplement comments here? I'm cool with that.

  8. Downloading now, though beat from work. This will fit really well in the sci fi game I plan to run. I know I use Vornheim all the time for D&D, so I'm sure this will be very invaluable.

  9. This looks great and very useful. Thanks! Now I need to convince people that we need to play some CP 2020 ...

    1. People need convincing? ;) The kit will work with any flavour of 'punk, especially light games like The Black Hack: Cyber-Hacked, The Sprawl or Mirrorshades.

    2. I know, people are strange that way :) And time is scarce, so my players are a bit picky about what they invest in. Anyway, I feel that urge to run a Cyberpunk campaign for some time now, so it's bound to happen at some point and this will come in very handy!

  13. This is FANTASTIC! Thank you so so much for putting this out for free, I'm absolutely going to use this to make my next Shadowrun game a hit!

  14. This looks super helpful--I might be about to run a game of The Sprawl, and I'm sure this'll see plenty of use. Quick typo note: on page 10, the "it's" in "The Street Finds It's Own Uses For Things" should be an "its".
